How to Fix MS Office Pro Plus 2016 that is Both Activated and Won’t Activate at the same time. However, this issue seems to only happen when different versions of MS Office are installed and I only had one version. I decided to check my Excel again just to make sure I wasn’t logged into a different account and ended up noticing something strange – my Excel was both “Activated” and “Required Activation” like other people asking for help online.

That’s when I ended up at and noticed that my Office 2016 Pro Plus key wasn’t even shown as associated with my account even though I only have one account. Nothing worked, I even double-checked my activation key at to make sure it was still valid. I tried all the suggestions found online: Made sure I was using the correct Microsoft/Live account, Repaired the installation, Reinstalled all of office, removed registry entries, as well as reinstalling the activation key via command-line. Excel was notifying me that I needed to activate my product but signing in kept failing to re-activate and I’d get an error that said “This account is not associated with this product”.

I was having a problem earlier with my Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 that was de-activated after using Windows Update.
